Four-turbine wind farm plan is unveiled

Plans are in the pipeline for a four-turbine wind farm at Asserby near Alford.

Energiekontor UK Ltd, which was recently granted permission on appeal for an eight-turbine development at Gayton Le Marsh, has submitted a scoping report for the 115m turbines to East Lindsey District Council (ELDC).

But wind farm campaigner Melvin Grosvenor has raised concerns that the plans will create a proliferation of industrial wind turbines throughout the whole of the coastal marsh landscape.

A public meeting has been organised to discuss the issues at 7pm on Friday evening at Grimoldby Village Hall.

Mr Grosvenor said: “Four turbines doesn’t sound a lot but I think there’s space in there for a lot more.”

Laura Dixon, from Energiekontor UK Ltd, said: “I can confirm we are currently undergoing a scoping exercise for a potential planning application for a wind farm near Asserby.

“This will enable further assessment of the site where ELDC will provide a scoping response for clarity of the suggested studies.

“The scoping report advises that the project could be up to four turbines and a tip height of up to 115m.”
