The company that operates a wind turbine in the Town of Kingston says residents “have been making false, baseless, and inflammatory statements.”
Kingston Wind Independence LLC owns a turbine on Cranberry Road and recently issued a three-page press release in response to comments made by Kingston residents who want the turbine shut down because they say they’re adversely affected by the structure.
A group of residents say shadow flicker, which is created when the blades of the turbine rotate, makes them nauseous and causes headaches. But in the release, KWI offers a solution,“If it bothers you, try this next time: close your curtains, lower your shades. Problem solved.”
KWI also says they’ve been hesitant to take legal action against residents but their “patience is running short” and their “legal department is keeping tabs” on statements made by residents and they will “take appropriate measures in the future to protect the reputation of KWI.”
The Independence turbine has been operating since May 2012 and is one of a handful of turbines in Kingston.
