Revised wind ordinance gets first reading; vote next week

The Adams County Commissioners held the first reading of the revised wind ordinance, as proposed by the plan commission, at their weekly meeting on Monday.
Approximately 20 residents came to hear the commissioners’ responses.
County Attorney Mark Burry stated that the current wind turbine ordinance was adopted in 2010. However, due to objections from the residents since then, the plan commission formed a committee to revise the ordinance. Burry noted that if the commissioners do not vote to adopt the proposed ordinance as is, adopt it with amendments, or reject it altogether in the next 90 days, the ordinance will automatically go into effect as is.
Attorney Adam Miller said that the proposed ordinance was modeled after Bentley County’s ordinance, with some modifications, as Adams County is more densely populated.
