Awareness meeting well attended

Ardglass Wind Turbine Action Awareness Group held another information meeting in Dungourney last Friday night in the local national school. The meeting was the fourth which the group have organised in local communities, with a view to informing residents about the wind turbine development proposed between Dungourney, Castlelyons, Lisgoold and Ballynoe.
The meeting was well attended with David Stanton TD, County Mayor, Councillor Barbara Murray and Councillor Frank O’Flynn among those in attendance. A professional presentation was given by Stephen Doyle, architect and local resident. David Stanton TD spoke, ensuring he would look into the points raised at the meeting.
The presentation outlined the problems that wind turbines can create, such as noise, shadow flicker and reductions in house values, and how if this development proceeds other wind turbine developments across East Cork will likely follow.
FUNDRAISER
Further public meetings are planned in order to inform other local communities about such issues. However, a fundraising venture by the group is next on the agenda, to be held on Sunday, April 28th in Ballyvolane House, Castlelyons. Running from 12 noon until 5pm, there will be a garden talk at 2.30 by Jeremy Green, to be followed by afternoon tea and a plant and book sale. All welcome.
