Legal advice over Derbyshire wind farm plan

Bosses at a firm behind plans for a wind farm in Bolsover are seeking legal advice after the scheme was rejected.

The proposal for Losk Lane had been recommended for approval by Bolsover Council officers, but was denied permission by members of the council’s planning committee.

Phil Dyke, Banks Renewables development director, said: “Given our application was recommended for approval by council officers, we are disappointed the council’s planning committee chose not to support a local firm in its attempts to bring a range of economic, social, employment and environmental benefits to the area through this scheme.

“The UK needs to generate a far higher percentage of the energy we use from domestic renewable sources, and become far less reliant on imported, fossil fuel-based energy supplies.

“As well as producing substantial amounts of renewable energy, the Losk Lane wind farm would also bring new jobs and commercial opportunities for businesses worth around £1.5 million to the area.

“We are confident this is an entirely-appropriate location for the sort of scheme we’re proposing and are now taking legal advice about our next course of action.”
