Wind farm public inquiry announced

Credit:  By Kirsty James | 5th February 2013 | www.thisisthewestcountry.co.uk ~~

A public inquiry will be held this month on a decision to refuse planning permission for a wind farm in West Huntspill.

An application by Ecotricity for four turbines on land south of Poplar Farm, known as Black Ditch, was rejected by Sedgemoor District Council’s planning committee in April.

But Ecotricity, also known as Next Generation, appealed against the decision and a public inquiry, run by the Planning Inspectorate, is to be held from February 19 in the Princess Theatre in Burnham.

The inquiry will run from February 19 to 22 at the Princess, and on March 7 at Bridgwater Town Hall.

The public may attend and, at the Inspector’s discretion, express their views. Documents relating to the appeal can be viewed at the Council’s offices by prior arrangement.

Any members of the public who wish to attend and have a disability should contact Sedgemoor District council to confirm suitable provisions are in place.
