Anger at Carnwath wind turbine plan

Credit:  Carluke Gazette | 20 December 2012 | www.carlukegazette.co.uk ~~

Anti-windfarm campaigners in Carnwath have accused a developer of effectively ‘spouting hot air’ about the perceived merits in it building a six-turbine structure at nearby Calla.

Action group Carnwath Act Now has been set up to oppose plans lodged with South Lanarkshire Council which applicants WilloWind Energy presented at a recent public meeting in Carnwath Town Hall.

One local windfarm protester is Jim Kelly, who said he was unhappy with what he was told at the meeting by WilloWind Energy CEO Martin Davie.

Jim said: “I asked their manager how much the windfarm was going to cost and he wouldn’t tell me.”

Jim said that an artist’s drawing of the proposed windfarm had shown the structure superimposed on top of the village and “falsely” gave the impression that the turbines were going to be 1½ miles outside Carnwath.
