WILLMAR – Work is underway to find an oil leak and correct small maintenance deficiencies at the Willmar Municipals Utilities’ north wind turbine after the turbine stopped turning Sunday due to a low oil indicator on the WinDrive, said Jon Folkedahl, power production supervisor.

Technicians from turbine manufacturer DeWind arrived in Willmar on Monday, inspected the turbine and reported they cleaned up approximately 25 gallons of leaked oil from the catch basin and added 15 gallons of XMP 320.

Folkedahl said they did not find the leak Monday and continued to work on it Tuesday and today if necessary. They also identified numerous small maintenance deficiencies such as loose bolts and will correct them, he said.

Folkedahl said he expected downtime to continue through today.
