Industrial wind may be faltering

Credit:  Shelburne Falls & West County Independent | September 21, 2012 ~~

For those who may understandably not have adequate time to follow the huge amount of Internet and news irnformation on industrial wind, select headline highlights may help fill in any gaps.

The following are the “action words” from world news headlines where industrial wind installations have been rejected. These stories date from July 20, 2012 to August 31 2012. A minimum of 50 wind farms have been rejected in these 41 days. See National Wind Watch victories for full articles. http://www.wind-watch.org/news/tag/victories/feed/

The headlines included these words and phrases: … blown off course, refused, squash turbine, thumbs down, turns down, concerns end, withdraw, rejection unanimous, axes, kills, nixes, prevails in law suit, withdrawn, refused, energy halts, villagers celebrate, rejected, disassembled, shelved, abandoned, doesn’t support, protected from inappropriate development, restricts, law passes, crane will come down, scrapped, wins appeal, repealed, double refusal, blocked, refuse permission, court rejects, terminate, knocked back, law restricting, turbine turn-off, votes to refuse.

One would begin to think that with thousands of grass root anti-industrial wind organizations around the world, that there might be legitimacy and sound reasoning in the citizen and growing public furor. Fifty example complaints from July 12, 2012 to Aug. 30, 2012 begin to suggest the nature of the real and experienced impacts from industrial wind installations. See National Wind Watch Complaints http://www.wind-watch.org/news/tag/complaints/feed.

Other words and phrases included among these articles are: cut operating time, not enthused, conduct sound study, halts blasting, night power cuts, blame wind, do own noise tests, legal notice of dangerous conditions, accused of violating easement agreement, sued for missing payments, wind projects scare off buyers, sues wind developer, court forces tests, complain of dust bowl, probe and study health impacts, university study confirms wind impacts, wind power fuels electric rate increases, industry scrambling for grid stability solutions, turbines need repairing, turbines labeled a noise nuisance, push for wider study of noise, cut operating time, wind victims not enthused, asks for emergency shut down, respond to attack by wind special interest groups, noise reduction system to be installed, residents given noise generators to drown out turbine sound, creating flooding problems, night power cuts, council cut property taxes for homes near turbines, wind brings down property values, thousands wiped off value of homes, wind shuts forest for two years, wind farm making them sick, seek protection from wind developer actions …

Being informed about why there is so much ardent opposition to industrial wind would seem prudent.
