Wind farm developers accused of ‘bullying’ Lincolnshire council officials

A claim that some wind farm developers adopted “bullying” tactics has been made by the leader of Lincolnshire County Council at a public meeting.

Councillor Martin Hill said he had had threatening emails though he refrained from identifying the source.

He said: “How they treat people is sometimes not very good. They try to force things through.”

Addressing a public meeting held in Ingoldmells, the leader said planning officers had also been subject to similar “bullying” – but good officers refused to be “brow-beaten”.

Councillor Hill said the authority did not want the county to be “blighted” by turbines, and there was a need to be firm, especially as there were doubts about the efficiency and effectiveness of wind power.

He went on to express hopes that subsidies paid by Whitehall to wind farm developers would continue to reduce.

He added: “Why should we pay through the nose to look at things some of us don’t like?”
