Are you worried about windfarms?

A blot on the landscape scarring Britain’s face like a pox.

Today, we exclusively expose the extent to which windfarms are irreversibly destroying the unique character of the UK’s countryside.

Our map, printed overleaf, shows how windfarms are sweeping the country like a disease.

We reveal the location of every windfarm in the UK – as well as those being built, those given the green light and others still at the planning stage.

Listed too are numbers of individual turbines – both operational and planned – in each of the Home Nations.

We also reveal the results of our latest yourviewk survey which show how you feel about the Government’s obsession with wind power.

Shockingly, of the 3,162 turbines currently operating in the UK, over half – 1,657 – are in Scotland, despite the country making up only around one-third of the UK’s land mass.

Almost another 500 are currently under construction in Scotland with approval for a whopping 1,000 more granted.

A further 1,667 turbines are at the planning stage.

It’s a reflection of the Scottish Government’s target for 100% renewable energy by 2020 – an aim 82% of you think is unachievable.

Half of those who responded to our survey think the target will never be met.

The UK Government have a more realistic target of 20% renewable energy by 2020 – yet 70% of you think even this is impossible.

Our survey also revealed 72% of you are concerned at the impact windfarms have on the UK’s natural beauty.

Kim Terry, of pressure group Communities Against Turbines Scotland, said: “This obsession with wind power is nothing short of madness.

“Turbines are changing our beautiful country forever. Huge swathes of the country are being given over to windfarms.

“They ruin the lives of those in their shadow – affecting mental and physical health.

“They make properties unsellable.

“Everyone is affected by soaring fuel bills used to subsidise their construction. It’s a national disgrace.”
