Windfarm firm to put plans on display

Plans to create a windfarm to the south of Darrington near Pontefract will be displayed in a public exhibition next week.
The number of proposed turbines at the site, between the A1 and Went Hill ridge, is still under consideration with assessments being carried out. It is likely there will be between five and eight and the hub height will be about 80 metres (about 262ft).
The final design will be submitted in a planning application by Banks Developments this spring.
Rob Williams, senior project manager at Banks Developments, said: “Before preparing a detailed design we will take into account comments from the community and statutory consultees. The two exhibitions are an opportunity for us to answer any questions and gather feedback from the local community.
“The scheme we’re proposing could produce enough energy for 8,000 homes without the production of greenhouse gases and deliver Wakefield Council’s renewable energy target to 2010.”
The Westfield Lane Wind Farm exhibitions are at the Carleton Community Centre next Tuesday between 1 and 5pm and Wentbridge House Hotel on Wednesday, February 7 between 3 and 7pm.
