Turbine tipping

ORLEANS, VT – A tractor trailer hauling a large base section of an industrial wind tower hit a snag Thursday on Interstate 91 South just before the Orleans exit, where the road is being resurfaced. The trailer tipped and the turbine part came to rest in the grass, twisting the trailer and leaving the wheels suspended in the air.
No injuries were reported. When contacted, a spokesperson for Green Mountain Power said the company was just learning of the incident, which had already gone viral on Facebook and made the WCAX-TV news less than an hour later.
Vermont State Police said the vehicle, owned by Lone Star Transportation LLC and being driven by Jimmy Maddox of Gainesville, TX, sustained damage to the fifth wheel and trailer kingpin.
The left tires of the trailer left the paved portion of the Interstate on the east side and went into the soft shoulder. This caused the trailer to overturn into the median, police reported. Due to the accident, Interstate 91 was reduced to one lane of traffic.
Police reported that the Interstate would probably be closed temporarily in order for equipment to remove the trailer and load.
