Power outage affects 11,500

The Kamaoa Wind Farm tripped offline at 1:29 p.m. Tuesday, causing a brief power outage to more than 11,500 customers, according to a written statement from Hawaii Electric Light Co.
The utility stated that additional generators were started and electricity was restored to all customers within three minutes. The cause of the outage is under investigation, HELCO said.
