Mufflers to be placed on all 23 Pinnacle turbines by end of July

Credit:  News-Tribune | www.newstribune.info 22 June 2012 ~~

As the onsite manager for Edison Mission Operations and Maintenance, the company that operates Pinnacle Wind Farm at New Page, I wanted to update the community on two important projects that are intended to respond to comments we have heard from the community.

First, in response to some residents’ concerns about noise levels coming from the turbines, the project is continuing with its plan to install noise-muffling louvers on all 23 turbines at the site and expects the installation project to be completed by the end of July.

The louvers have been ordered and are scheduled to start arriving at the site by the end of June. The louvers have been tested on one turbine and we found that it significantly reduced the noise from the cooling fans. This action will reduce the noise that has been an issue with some of the project’s neighbors.

Second, it’s anticipated that the resurfacing of both Tasker and Pinnacle roads will be completed by the end of June. As stated publicly, this work is being done after construction was completed and when the weather permitted.

The project worked with the West Virginia Department of Transportation to ensure that the road work is done properly and has hired a contractor that will complete this work within the next few weeks.

Like any new project, we acknowledge that the first six months of operations have come with some challenges, but the project has worked to identify actions it can take to address questions and concerns. Pinnacle Wind Farm at New Page looks forward to a long and productive relationship with its neighbors and the community at large.

Sincerely,
Brad Christopher
Onsite Manager
Edison Mission
