Previous applications for wind turbines in Gedling borough have sparked strong protest among residents.
Severn Trent Water asked Gedling Borough Council for permission to build two 132-metre high wind turbines next to the Poplars Sports Ground in March 2010.
But Burton Joyce Parish Council submitted a 200-page document opposing the plans.
Other objectors included Carlton le Willows Academy, Burton Joyce Cricket Club and Sport England.
The cricket club said the turbines might distract players and turbulence from the blades could affect the movement of the ball. More than 1,190 letters of objection were sent to the council.
After a decision was put back several times, councillors finally turned down the plans in March.
Another controversial wind turbine application was submitted by farmer John Charles-Jones, for a 66.5-metre wind turbine in Woodborough Park Farm. The plans were given the go-ahead last November.
However, campaign group Woodborough and Calverton Against Turbines (WACAT) vowed to fight the plans. An application has been lodged in the High Court for permission for a judicial review against the council over the decision.
