Wind farm project picks up pace

The application for a wind farm at Langham has been submitted, stirring up protestors.
The proposal to East Lindsey District Council from npower renewables is for the six turbines – 127m high – on farm land between Anderby, Anderby Creek and Chapel St Leonards.
Renewables developer Kim Gauld-Clark said: “We are delighted to reach this important stage.
“So far we have had a positive response to our plans for the Langham Wind Farm and we would encourage all those who have expressed their support for the scheme to make their feelings known to the planning office at East Lindsay District Council.
“You really can make a difference to the success of the wind farm.”
She added: “The electricity produced by the wind farm will go into the local grid, helping to power up to 7,900 homes in the local area with clean renewable energy.
“This takes into account fluctuations in wind speeds and includes periods when the wind doesn’t blow.”
The area’s Lincolnshire County Council representative Coun Colin Davie is opposed to the proposal.
He said: “I am very concerned at this application as this will severely impact on the coastal conservation area and its surrounding.
“Prior to Christmas the Ofgem date relating to wind farms was published and it showed quite clearly that output from onshore wind farms is very poor indeed.
“Public money should be invested in technology that can deliver real benefits for the environment, rather than technologies that are bit-part players in our efforts to combat climate change.”
