Lincolnshire wind turbine plan targets canal-side land near Louth

Wind turbines could be built on land near a Lincolnshire canal.

A planning application has been submitted for the development close to Louth Canal.

Green energy firm Partnerships for Renewables (PfR) wants to build on adjoining pieces of land owned by the Environment Agency and a private landowner.

The turbines would be 113.5m high and would generate 16.4GWh of electricity every year. This would be enough to power around 3,680 homes.

Around £18,750 a year will be given to an independently- managed community fund.

And approximately 7,062 tonnes of carbon dioxide would be saved from going into the atmosphere annually.

PfR regional manager Dr Jo Flemming said: “We have now completed all the environmental and technical studies on the site, which have confirmed our belief that the site is an appropriate one for wind energy development.

“We believe the land is suitable for three turbines.”

Public exhibitions will be held on Tuesday, May 1, at Tetney Village Hall from 1pm to 7pm and at North Thoresby Village Hall between 10am and 3pm on Wednesday, May 2.
