Selectmen consider wind turbine feasibility study

Credit:  By Ashleigh Bennett, Wicked Local, www.wickedlocal.com 17 April 2012 ~~

WAREHAM – The Wareham Water Pollution Control Facility may be the future site of a wind turbine, which would stand at around 65-80 meters tall. The Selectmen passed a motion agreeing to file a request for a feasibility study looking into this project. This way, if the wind turbine bylaws change at Town Meeting, the project already is filed with the town.

The feasibility study would give the town information and answers about the project before the town decides to take on that risk or not.

Wareham received a grant from Mass CEC looking into the idea, and recently the Water Pollution Control Facility completed a yearlong study with Atlantic Design Engineers Inc., where they collected wind resource data from the potential site, and from surrounding communities who use turbines.
