Another wind protest

There could be a big contingent of residents from Huron, Bruce, Grey and Perth Counties in Toronto on Tuesday protesting wind turbine development.

A protest rally is planned in conjunction with the Ontario Feed In Tariff Program that is being held in Toronto as well.

Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker says it’s time to step back from turbine development.

He says right now we’re paying other jurisdictions to take our excess power so why not slow down and study the health effects of turbines on people and animals.

Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson agrees.

She says the Liberal government just doesn’t get it.

Thompson says the subsidies the government is committing to, is going to bankrupt everyone.

She says people are telling her the wind issue and its health effects should be a confidence vote at Queen’s Park and they have to keep hammering home that turbine development should be stopped.

Recently an Ontario Auditor General’s report indicated that the subsidies being paid for wind and solar energy was a bad deal for the province.
