COLUMBUS – Champaign Wind LLC on Tuesday submitted a document to the Ohio Power Siting Board stating the business does not object or agree to the March 5 petition by Union Neighbors United, Robert McConnell, Diane McConnell and Julia Johnson to become intervenors in the Buckeye II Wind Farm proposal, but indicating the filing of such a petition should occur only after an application to OPSB has been filed.
So far, only a pre-application for a proposed Buckeye II Wind Farm with 57 wind turbines in eastern Champaign County has been filed. This is in addition to the original Buckeye Wind Farm, already approved, which will result in about an equal number of turbines in the same area of the county.
Concerning UNU’s petition, Champaign Wind’s response states the “Petitioners provide no specific grounds for intervention in their petitions, instead relying on their general bias against wind turbines” and continues that OPSB may consider allowing UNU to offer specific grounds for intervening after a complete application for the proposed wind farm is filed.
