Sky high protest against turbines blight

More than 400 people formed a human “No!” in an aerial protest slamming plans for a wind farm near Stoke Hammond. The campaigners also gave residents, living in Linslade and the villages around the controversial site off Dorcas Lane, a taste of how high the four wind turbines, some of the tallest in Europe, would be.
The Stop Dorcas Lane Turbines action group flew a blimp above the site at just over 400ft. If the application by Force 9 gets the go-ahead from Aylesbury Vale District Council there will be four wind turbines each 420ft high – which is three times the height of Xscape in Milton Keynes, 100 feet taller than Big Ben and more than twice the height of All Saint’s Church, Leighton.
SDLT chairman, Malcolm Newing, said: “Over 400 people turned up to demonstrate their objections to the Dorcas Lane development proposal and create our human NO Wind Turbines.
“Our pictures show the blimp, which has shocked many people once they realised how tall these turbines would be.
“One resident, of Derwent Road, Linslade, turned up at our event and said he could not believe they would see the turbines from his home in Linslade.”
