Glenmorie Wind Farm (near Bonar Bridge) has announced this week that if its proposed wind farm goes ahead it will pay £5000/mw each year into a fund to benefit local residents.
The fund from the proposed 34-turbine wind farm is expected to amount to around £500,000 per year, providing around £12m over its 25 year lifetime (based on the installation of 3mw turbines).
Steve Hunter, Project Director for Glenmorie Wind Farm, said: “The wind in the Highlands is a phenomenal natural resource and this fund would provide one way for the whole community to benefit from harnessing renewable energy.”
