Protecting residents against noisy wind turbines

Credit:  The Telegraph, www.telegraph.co.uk 1 March 2012 ~~

The Government has rejected the idea of a minimum separation distance for on-shore industrial wind turbines (report, February 29). The Irish parliament is currently considering a bill proposing minimum separations of 1,600, 3,200, 5,000 and 6,500ft for turbines taller than 81, 163, 325 and 488ft respectively.

We in Ringmer have direct, recent experience of the curse of on-shore industrial wind turbines. A new 210ft turbine has just been erected next to our village in the new South Downs National Park. More than 3,000 residents live within the “Irish” exclusion radius and noise has been reported at distances of up to 4,800ft, so it could affect over 4,000 residents.

The Irish levels of protection would solve this problem.
