Villagers warn plans bad for environment

Villagers fighting to stop a wind turbine going up near their homes have launched a poster campaign.
Campaigners in Adderley, near Market Drayton, claim the plans for a 55kw turbine, which would be 150ft tall to the blade tip, on land at Bawhill Farm would be an eyesore and could see house prices tumble.
Campaigner Paul Shepley said residents were concerned at the impact the turbine could have because of its proximity to homes.
The farmer behind the plans, Stephen Cope, has told planning officers he wants to harness the power of the wind to slash soaring energy bills at the farm.
But dozens of residents have already objected to the scheme on Shropshire Council’s planning website. Now Mr Shepley and his fellow objectors have launched the poster campaign in a bid to show how strongly people feel about the possible arrival of a wind turbine right on their doorsteps.
He said: “There is no local social or economic benefit – only the farmer is set to benefit from the huge subsidies at the cost of destroying the local environment.
“The impact on property prices could be huge for everyone in the village.”
Another resident, Margaret Bruty, said: “I feel this wind turbine would be an absolute eyesore.”
