A York MP has added his name to a letter to Prime Minister David Cameron about the future of on-shore wind farms.
The letter, signed by politicians of all parties, has urged a reduction in the subsidies available for wind turbines and for planning rules to be changed so communities have a “fairer chance” of overturning applications.
It also highlights the “inefficient and intermittent energy production” of the turbines and questions Government policy which supports on-shore wind production.
York Outer MP Julian Sturdy said: “Nobody can deny the construction of a wind turbine can cause real distress for local residents and it is right that they have a realistic chance of defeating unwanted proposals.”
