ALLEGANY – For the third meeting in a row, the Allegany Town Board tabled a request for the use of Chipmonk Road to transport equipment to a proposed wind turbine farm until further engineering studies can be conducted.

The action came after approximately an hour of discussion and an executive session at Tuesday’s regularly scheduled town board meeting at the Allegany Senior Center.

The board’s first order of business was to review a request from EverPower Wind Holdings Inc., also referred to as Allegany Wind LLC., to use Chipmonk Road to transport wind turbine materials and equipment. The company plans to build a 29-wind turbine farm in the Chipmonk and Knapp Creek areas of the town of Allegany. The project would require hauling 8,500 truckloads of materials and equipment to the sites.
