More concerns in wind contract

NORTH PERTH – While most of us were enjoying our holidays, Warren Howard was poring over a lengthy legal document, highlighting concerns with an approaching wind energy project.
A North Perth councillor and member of the Elma-Mornington Concerned Citizens Committee, Howard says there are a number of concerns with the lease agreement from Invenergy Canada, a Chicago-based company seeking to build 23-27 turbines in the area.
Howard said his biggest concern with the contract is that the landowner could end up responsible for removing the huge turbine from their property. Although the contract states an obligation of the company to remove the wind turbines within 90 days of the lease termination, Howard points out a clause that allows the abandonment of the turbine if that obligation isn’t met. … Please read more in this weeks Listowel Banner
