Developers of windfarm at Hunmanby, near Filey, accused of ignoring locals

Developers behind controversial plans for a wind farm off the North Yorkshire coast have been accused of ignoring public opposition to the £35 million scheme.
Revised plans for the scheme, earmarked for farmland close to Hunmanby, near Filey, are due to be unveiled at a public exhibition in the new year following the end of a consultation exercise.
But opponents said the company which has drawn up the project, Banks Renewables – which earlier this year announced it was looking at building a wind farm at Copmanthorpe, near York – has not taken the views of residents into account in pushing ahead with the plans.
Michelle Donohue-Moncrieff, who chairs Hunmanby Parish Council said: “The local community simply do not want the wind farm, but the company is still pushing ahead with the plans nonetheless.”
Banks Renewables development director Phil Dyke said the company had “gone to great lengths” to engage with the public and that there had been “significant amounts of support”.
The scheme could see 14 475ft turbines built and a full planning application is expected to be submitted next year.
