South Australia’s Opposition spokesman for urban development and planning has heard the concerns of Allendale East residents about a proposed wind farm in the area.
David Ridgway held a community meeting yesterday and he says emotions ran high over the controversial development.
The ACCIONA Energy project has divided the local community but Mr Ridgway says most people at the meeting were against it.
He says more rules need to apply to wind farm developments.
“I think that we should be considering some decent separation distances,” he said.
“I think we should be looking at developing some clear guidelines when it comes to fighting fires and bushfires when it comes to these sorts of developments and maybe going even as far as having a national set of planning guidelines but certainly looking at things from an Allendale perspective.”
