Goodhue County on front line of sand, wind

Sound familiar? It should to those in Goodhue County.
In the last three years, Goodhue County has become the front line for debate on wind energy in Minnesota. A reconsideration hearing is scheduled for next week on the 78-megawatt AWA Goodue project, which recently gained Minnesota Public Utilities approval. No turbines have yet been erected in the county, and citizens – potentially with county support – have vowed to continue the fight in court if the PUC doesn’t change its decision. All the while, the leaders of two other proposed wind projects intently monitor the proceedings.
