BUZZARDS BAY – The Cape Cod Commission panel reviewing New Generation Wind’s four-turbines proposal off Scenic Highway and Route 25 north of the canal has rejected a favorable recommendation for the plan.
The sub-committee voted 4-0-1 Thursday not to favorably recommend the plan to the full commission. Voting members will, however, later this month consider the plan, which represents the first land-based wind farm proposal in Massachusetts.
New Generation Wind spokesman Greg O’Brien said the sub-committee vote was not entirely unexpected, adding that project principals Tudor Ingersoll and Samuel Lorusso of Hyannis are still considering their options.
Michael Blanton, Bourne representative to the commission, served on the sub-panel and voted against the turbine project. Commission staff review ultimately ended with the finding that there is no economic benefit to be derived from the plan.
