The State Government’s recent move to amend Council Development Plans (through a Ministerial Development Plan Amendment) is an appalling erosion of individual and community rights.
This amendment will make wind turbine developments in most rural areas Category 2 developments, where the community has no right of appeal.
In their proposed Policy Framework, the government makes it quite clear that the reason for this amendment is the growing opposition to wind turbine development.
Rather than face the fact that there are serious problems with wind turbines and address these problems, the Rann/Weatherill government has chosen to use “big brother” tactics to silence those who have legitimate concerns and beat rural communities into submission.
