Beauty endangered

Credit:  The Chronicle Journal, www.chroniclejournal.com 11 October 2011 ~~

Last Sunday, I had the opportunity to walk up the slopes of Loch Lomond Ski Hill and experience the unique, one-of-a-kind beauty on the Nor’Wester Mountains. The maple trees were glorious in colour and splendor. The weather was awesome and the sun shone on this beautiful autumn forest. There were many others who were also enjoying this well-organized walk.
While I walked the trails on the top of the hill with my sister-in-law, a peregrine falcon flew overhead.
I kept thinking about what an irreparable disaster it would be if all these trees were lost so wind turbines could be erected in their place. I sure would not want these monstrosities near where I live.
I cannot understand why the City of Thunder Bay does not make this pristine area a park or protected area for future generations to enjoy.
Thank you to all the people who made this autumn nature walk up the Nor’Westers special.
