Decision on Bull Hill Wind expected Oct. 5

ELLSWORTH – The state Land Use Regulation Commission is expected to issue a decision on the Bull Hill Wind project Wednesday, Oct. 5, during a meeting at the Ramada Inn.
Blue Sky East, a subsidiary of wind developer First Wind, proposes to build a 19-turbine wind facility on the Bull Hill and Heifer Hill ridges in Township 16, which borders Eastbrook. The $78.5-million project would have a maximum capacity of about 34 megawatts. The turbines would be 476 feet high.
The Oct. 5 meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Ramada conference room.
In addition to the Bull Hill decision, the LURC commissioners are also scheduled to begin deliberations on the Bowers Wind Project proposed for Carroll Plantation in Penobscot County and Kossuth Township in Washington County.
Champlain Wind, also a First Wind subsidiary, submitted the permit application for the 69-megawatt project.
