Ecotricity ready to submit Burnham-On-Sea wind farm appeal

Ecotrocity, the controversial company behind the failed bid to develop a wind farm on the outskirts of Burnham-On-Sea, is making final preparations to appeal against the decision.

Speaking to Burnham-On-Sea.com this week, Ecotricity spokesman Jamie Baldwin confirmed that the appeal is on track to be submitted later in the year.

“We are definitely going to appeal and are working on various documents in support of this,” he said. “There’s no reason why the documents should not be complete before the end of the year.”

The comments came after August’s decision by Sedgemoor planners to throw out the proposal. The decision came after months of heated debate between those campaigning against the scheme, led by the KNOll To Wind Farm pressure group, and pro-wind campaigners from FORCE, Families For Clean Energy. The appeal process is certain to stoke up the renewed debate and could last for several months.
