A North Canterbury group is preparing for an Environment Court battle with power company Meridian Energy over a proposed wind farm.
The Glenmark Community Against Wind Turbines Incorporated Society plans to fight Meridian’s proposal for a 33-turbine wind farm at Centre Hill, between Omihi and Greta Valley.
Chairman Graeme Higginson said the group was close to appointing legal counsel.
The other key issue was finding and instructing expert witnesses on the sound, health, landscape and land-value impacts of the turbines, Higginson said.
No date had been set for the hearing.
