600ft turbines under public spotlight

Plans for two more huge wind turbines off the Clacton coast go under the spotlight next week.

Energy company Dong wants to build the 600ft high demonstration turbines next to the existing Gunfleet Sands wind farm.

They will tower above the existing 450ft high turbines.

Company bosses held a series of public meetings about the project in January.

A second round of meetings is now being held to look at how to link the turbines to an electricity substation on Old Road, Clacton.

Five possible routes for the underground cables have been put forward, along Cherry Tree Avenue and Leas Road, or Wash Lane and Park Road.

The consultation meetings take place at: Greensward Café, Marine Parade West, on Sunday from 10am-5pm.

St James Hall, Tower Road, on Monday from 12pm-6pm.

Crossways Methodist Hall, Jaywick, on Tuesday from 2pm-8pm.
