Cato Township concerns

Credit:  PUBLIC FORUM: Cato Township concerns | Daily News | August 20, 2022 | www.thedailynews.cc ~~

Arrogant, uneducated and stubborn are what the majority of the Cato Township Board proved themselves to be when they took a wrecking ball to the carefully crafted safe wind ordinance their Planning Commission developed as a result of over 1 1/2 years of intense study and personal sacrifice.

Not only was it a contemptible act of disrespect of their planning commission, but to the Cato citizenry as well, who supported the original PC ordinance by at least a 10-1 ratio at the Aug. 1 meeting.

The changes the board made to the ordinance reflect not a shred of actual research or thoughtful reflection, or an ear turned toward their constituents, but rather were verbatim what Apex Clean Energy fed them in order to make wind industrialization of Cato Township viable. This was a clear act of collusion, with the wind contractor (with millions to gain and a gigantic conflict of interest) engineering the final outcome. By ignoring the interests of a majority of its citizens to maintain a safe and rural environment, their actions are nothing less than an act of treason against their own township.

The three board members that turned on their citizens are clearly not fit to serve and should be recalled at the earliest opportunity; and replaced with citizens whose concern for the township transcends their own self-interest.
