Windfarm noise and Nuisance noise meetings

The Institute of Acoustics will be organising a series of meetings in the coming months on building acoustics and environmental noise

The two meetings that might be of interest to Processingtalk readers are those relating to Windfarm Noise, and Nuisance Noise. 1) WINDFARM NOISE. This meeting will be held on 28 February 2008, at the Armagh City Hotel, County Armagh. Discussions will include an environmental health perspective of wind farm noise, wind energy in Ireland, noise generation by wind turbines, assessment of wind farm noise and a consultant’s perspective; a developer’s experience in respect of noise; micro turbines – to plan or not to plan; and the results of a study of infrasound and low frequency noise from wind farms.

There will also be time for discussion in the afternoon.

For further information, contact Linda Canty at the IOA.

Organised by the London Branch Committee 2) NOISE NUISANCE.

This meeting will be held on 5 March 2008, at the Kohn Centre, in the Royal Society, London, and is organised by the London Branch Committee.

There have always been many different ways to approach noise nuisance and with recent developments there are many new ways of dealing with this issue.

The meeting will be of interest to anyone involved or interested in particular aspects of Noise Nuisance, including Acoustic Consultants, Environmental Health Officers, Solicitors and those in the entertainment business.

The meeting aims to address all aspects of noise nuisance including Nuisance Law, the Licensing Act, the Noise Act, the Environmental Protection Act, entertainment noise, neighbourhood noise, statutory Noise, Public Nuisance and ASBOs.
