Industrial wind turbines coming to Crawford County?

Credit:  Letter to the Editor: Honey Creek Wind Farm | Bucyrus Telegraph-Forum | Jun. 12, 2021 | www.bucyrustelegraphforum.com ~~

It accidentally came to my attention a couple of months ago as I was scrolling on Facebook when I randomly came upon our county commissioner’s post of plans for a Crawford/Seneca County wind turbine project by the Apex Company called the Honey Creek Project. I was blindsided, but I continued to investigate.

Sadly, I found that our beautiful agricultural community that I’ve lived in my whole life is in the crosshairs of possibly being one of Ohio’s largest wind turbine takeovers. It will include 13 of our townships, negatively impacting our property values, wildlife, safety and welfare for all.

Our Ohio legislators are working on bills to give our citizens a voice for voting on these industrial projects being placed within our residential and agricultural communities, but in the meantime our farmland and properties need to be protected from targets that will change our natural landscape by standing together and being informed of what is happening before it is too late. Wynford’s 155-foot structures will be dwarfed by the plans for the over-600-foot wind turbines that are being planned for Crawford and Seneca counties.

Please attend any or all of the following community informational meetings that are being planned: June 17 at 6:30 at the Holmes Township Fire Department, 4381 Holmes Center Road, Bucyrus; June 24 at 6:30 at the Aumiller Park Pavillion 500 Aumiller Park Drive, Bucyrus; July 1 6:30 at the Liberty Township Fire Department, 4628 Liberty Street, Sulphur Springs.

Steve and Paula Iler, Bucyrus
