Objections to Blackcraig power line

Nearly 500 objections have been made against the planned link between Blackcraig windfarm and the National Grid.
Scottish and Southern Energy’s plan for 23 365-feet turbines was given the go-ahead by the Scottish Government in March – more than a year after a public inquiry into the proposals had ended.
The following week, SP Transmission applied to Scottish Ministers for permission to install the power lines necessary to link Blackcraig – and the proposed Margree development – to the National Grid.
People were invited to send their thoughts on the proposed link to the Scottish Government as part of the planning process.
And this week a Scottish Government spokesman said there had been 474 representations – all of them objecting to the plans.
He added that while the period for representations had closed, responses from a small number of agencies were still outstanding.
Meanwhile, the council is looking for views on its draft interim planning policy on wind energy development and the accompanying environmental report.
It identifies a number of areas suitable for turbines over 50 metres high using criteria set out by the Scottish Government.
The consultation runs until 5pm on July 22 and the documents can be viewed at libraries, planning offices and www.dumgal.gov.uk/windenergy.
