    U.K. Petitions

Make local decisions stay local over wind turbines

    http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/46269

Responsible department: Department for Communities and Local Government

To the House of Commons. The petition of the people declare that they want to see local decisions upheld over wind turbines. The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons bring in changes to stop planning appeals over-ruling local decisions made by local councillors in the relevant planning authorities and ensures the Government’s localism agenda is pursued in all cases.

Planning permission for wind turbines needs careful consideration

    http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/38319

Responsible department: Department for Communities and Local Government

This Government should stop the indiscriminate granting of permission to erect high, noisy and inefficient wind turbines that only benefit the individual landowner. Permission is often granted without due consideration to nearby residents and locations near to, or even inside Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The scientific data used in making decisions is often outdated and contradictory and needs to be revisited. Moreover, applications should only be considered by referring to the recent ‘Revised National Planning Policy Framework’.

Furthermore, local communities should also have a say in the final decision and all approved applications should have a planning gain for the local community, as with other construction applications.

Government should be so very careful; otherwise, ‘Never in England’s green and pleasant land, will so much be surrendered by so many, to benefit so few’.

    Low-frequency sound from wind farms

    http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/52563

Responsible department: Department for Energy and Climate Change

Health impacts caused by low-frequency noise (infrasound) from wind turbines have been known to US and Australian researchers and the renewable energy industry for more than 25 years, yet many people who claim to suffer from ‘Wind Turbine Syndrome’ because wind turbines are placed too close to their houses are being ignored or even ridiculed.

In light of this, it is imperative that the government immediately implements an independent survey into low-frequency noise and infrasound. Until this survey reports the government must immediately place an exclusion zone of at least 3 kilometres between wind turbines and any residence in the UK. Any turbine within this exclusion zone should immediately be switched off, and the structure removed within 90 days.

The survey should be undertaken by experts in low-frequency sound who are totally independent of any power company or the renewable industry.

Stop subsidy on renewable energy in the UK and reduce fuel bills.

    http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/40474

Responsible department: Department for Energy and Climate Change

With Energy bills increasing at an alarming rate, reduction of the subsidy on renewables would reduce energy bills and slow down the growth of Wind Turbine Farms in the UK as well as Solar Panels. If renewables are so good, then let the Private Sector pay for it 100%, not the general public.
