Energy presentation now available via Skype

As you may know, I have been asked to give my well-received energy presentation all over the world. For a variety of reasons I have so far restricted giving it to some 10 nearby states where I could keep my time to a minimum, and my travel & lodging costs down.

I am now going to offer another option:

To give my free energy presentation to other communities throughout the world via Skype.

That’s right, whether you are in Australia, Alaska, Nova Scotia, Ireland, or anywhere else, I can put on a personal presentation for your community!

Here is a quickie overview:

You get people together at a meeting room that has a projection screen (e.g. church hall which may be for free). Setup a portable computer, connected to: the internet, a projector, and a speaker system.

At the appointed time I will connect to your computer via the software program Skype (which is also no cost to you).

I will then go through my slides on my computer from my home, but they will be seen on your projection screen at your location. At the end I will answer any questions from the attendees, just like I do in a live event.

That’s it!

To do this right, you should allow 2 to 2.5 hours.

At the end most groups say something like: “If you found this worthwhile, and would like to support our efforts locally, we would appreciate a donation.” The presentation can be a very good fund raiser, but that is up to you.

FAQ —

1 – Does this mean that I will no longer put on live presentations?

No, but there will be fewer. I am still open to putting on live versions for locations and times that are convenient.

2 – Who is this presentation aimed at?

All levels of education and wind energy experience. The only “requirement” is that attendees be open-minded.

3 – Is there a minimum number of attendees required?

Yes: 25. My time is my most valuable asset and I simply do not have the time to spend with a smaller audience than that.

4 – What if we are starting a new group and want to train a half dozen key people?

Each person should carefully look at EnergyPresentation.Info and WindPowerFacts.Info (esp. What Not To Say) by themselves, and then get together in a meeting and discuss what they learned from those tools. Feel free to email me questions that come up. Then you need to start expanding your group. It shouldn’t take too long before you are in a position to then sponsor the Skype event.

5 – Is there a maximum number of attendees allowed?

Yes and No. I have given this live to hundreds of people at a time, but at some point it is difficult to answer everyone’s questions during the Q&A part if there are many more than that.

6 – What if we have a situation where we have only 20 minutes to present something at a luncheon (e.g. Rotary Club)?

There is no way to adequately cover this highly technical topic in 20 minutes! That said I’ve tried to deal with this real-world situation in coming up with completely different presentations. 7 – Is the same Skype connection made with me to show those versions?

No. These are for you to show on your own. Few words are needed as the slides are self-explanatory.

8 – If the wind energy topic can’t be adequately covered in 20 minutes, what is the point of showing those other presentations?

They are an opportunity to get your foot in the door, and to pique people’s interest. At the end, attendees should all be directed to EnergyPresentation.Info and WindPowerFacts.Info for a much more comprehensive discussion of the situation. Hopefully it will also result in enough people being interested in the full presentation for your community.

9 – Is there any charge for me to use any of these other presentations at a public gathering?

No. This is not about making money for me, but to educate citizens. I would appreciate knowing that you are doing this, the response you get, and any suggestions you have for improvement. At the time you should also identify me as the creator of the work.

10 – Why not do a Webinar instead of using Skype?

Webinars have some good features, but for this type of situation I think that Skype is a better solution for a variety of reasons.

11 – Do you have references?

12 – Can we send you a donation to show appreciation for your efforts here?

Yes, but I’d rather that you spend the money locally, educating your neighbors. We need to fix this situation where lobbyists are generating our energy and environmental policies, and citizens speaking up is one of the best ways to do that.
