Health Canada sought private meeting with CanWEA before announcing health study

Credit:  December 4, 2012, Ontario Wind Resistance ~~

Federal Access to Information documents reveal that on May 3, 2012 members of Health Canada’s Wind Turbine Noise and Health Study contacted the Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA) to solicit a meeting and discuss the yet to be announced Health Canada led study investigating the health impacts of wind turbines.

Health Canada’s initiative to seek a meeting with CanWEA occurred over two months before the Canadian public were advised on July 10, 2012 of Health Canada’s Wind Turbine Noise and Health Study.

Why would members of the Health Canada’s Wind Turbine Noise and Health Study seek a meeting with CanWEA?

  • CanWEA is a trade association representing the wind energy industry.
  • CanWEA is lobbyist organization which advocates to remove barriers to wind energy development across Canada.
  • CanWEA is a federally registered lobby organization.

Members of Health Canada’s Wind Turbine Noise and Health Study initiated discussions about their yet to be announced study with an industry trade association and registered lobbyist.

Has Health Canada sought similar meetings with Canadians who are reporting negative health impacts from exposure to wind turbines?

Has Health Canada sought similar meetings with Canadians who have abandoned their homes due to exposure to wind turbines?

Has Health Canada sought similar meetings with Canadians who have reached financial agreements with wind energy developers?

What has Health Canada discussed in private with CanWEA?

Who is Health Canada trying to protect: the health of Canadians or the health of the wind industry?

Please send message to your MP and MPP’s and council. Important; Cc local media.
Industrial wind turbines should be shut down until a public inquiry/investigation is completed!

Hi Tara –

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Unfortunately the 11th won’t work for us, as both myself and the other CanWEA staff cc’d on this note are out of town on that day. How does the 15th work for you and David as an alternative date?

Kind Regards,
******

The morning of the 15th works for us. Please confirm a time and location. I’ve indicated an hour but if more time is needed we can accommodate this as well.

Thanks *****
