Parish councillors agreed unanimously to oppose plans to build two wind turbines near a village.
REG Windpower wants to put two masts on land off Steadfold Lane, Ketton, and has submitted a planning application to Rutland County Council. On Tuesday night Ketton Parish Council met to decide its submission to the county council on the plans.
The council decided unanimously to oppose the turbines for a number of reasons, including noise, shadow flicker and the proximity of the turbines to homes and the Hanson Cement works.
Ketton and Tinwell Action Group on Wind Turbines says it has knocked on every door in the two villages to speak to people.
The group says 467 people have signed a petition against the turbines.
REG Windpower development manager Owen Sawards aid: “This wind farm would provide enough clean electricity for the equivalent of over 1,300 homes per year on average, and we know there are many local supporters of the project.”
